A Sea Cliff deli that has been operating for well over a century is now for sale.
Arata's Deli has been a part of the Long Island village since 1906.
"Everybody that moves out comes back and they see we are still here, and they come back to see the store they knew as kids," says Arata's Deli co-owner Ron Collura.
The deli owners say challenges like the pandemic and delivery apps are forcing their decision to retire from the business.
Patrons of the deli say they feel a "little uneasy" because they have become a little family at Arata's.
"When we first started coming here, we didn't know anybody here, and now we've become so friendly," says Jeff Barringyon, of Glen Head. "We traveled together; we go to each other's homes."
Ron Collura and the other co-owner of the deli, Rachel Collura, are hopeful that someone will buy the deli to keep the legacy going.
"I hope somebody buys it so that we can keep the doors open," Rachel Collura says. "They can probably expand on what we do, but we're tired so I'd like to have somebody take it over and do better."
