As students across the Island return to the classroom, many schools are beefing up their security.
One of those schools is Connetquot High School in Bohemia. School officials say they now have more than 30 security cameras, including one in each hallway. Security guards are also checking every vehicle that enters school grounds. GPS tracking devices were installed on school buses.
Many parents say they don?t mind the long lines to get on school property as long as their children are safe. Many students say they do feel safer with the extra security.
Revelations of a Columbine-like school attack plot fueled the district's increased security efforts. Two students, ages 15 and 17, allegedly planned to use firearms and other weapons to kill students and faculty. They were arrested in July.
