A Sayville native is hoping to take the next step in his football journey by being picked in this week's NFL draft.
After three seasons at the University of Wisconsin and one at Notre Dame, Jack Coan came back to his high school to stay accurate.
"It's great to be home to be honest with you, be home and spend time with some family and friends and good to throw to the local guys," Coan says.
He met with half of the NFL teams and is hopefully they see him as an "extremely tough" and "hardworking" football player.
Coan doesn't have a favorite team he'd like to go to, but says he'd like to be behind a veteran quarterback who can teach him a lot about the game and how to be a pro.
Wherever he ends up, he says he hopes to make his hometown proud.
"It's not just going to be me getting drafted to a team, it's going to be Sayville and everyone that helped me along the way because they played just as big a role in it," Coan says
