Sachem officials held a public meeting in Lake Ronkonkoma Wednesday night to discuss the possibility of school closings in the district.
Sachem's Board of Education has been considering ways to close a budget gap.
School officials cut down the number of proposals to just one -- closing down two elementary schools and one middle school.
The options previously included closing up to four elementary schools and moving fifth-graders up to middle school.
Many parents say they strongly opposed the latter idea.
