Members of the Sachem community went before the school board one week before the district’s new budget goes to a vote.
The new budget includes a 1.92% tax levy increase. The spending plan would have staff cuts, resulting in larger class sizes and reduced extra-curricular activities.
Last month, voters rejected a budget with a 4.87% tax levy increase, which would have pierced the tax cap.
The new budget remains within the tax cap, and would only require a simple majority to pass.
The vote will be held on Tuesday, June 18.
