The Riverhead School District is set to lose dozens of employees, even with changes to the state budget.
The school board on Tuesday night approved a budget that includes dozens of job cuts. The board says this is due to the loss of pandemic aid that had previously been relied on.
The district says it will likely be eliminating 56.8 positions - 22 of the jobs are vacant and 34.8 cuts are teachers and teaching assistants.
This can change over the summer as discussions continue, according to the district.
The full budget will be presented at a hearing next month before the budget vote on May 21.
