Long Islanders felt the heat Monday amid the heat advisory issued for Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Hot temperatures combined with high humidity levels made some places feel like 100 degrees on Long Island.

Officials say young kids, the elderly, and those with asthma, should limit their time outdoors during extreme heat. They also reminded families to never leave children or pets in the car during the heat and to wear sunscreen whenever outside. Exercising outdoors in the afternoon should also be limited.

Residents should drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.
