MTA: Train strikes car near Central Islip; driver arrested for DWI

Several delays were reported following the incident. However, the MTA says all service has since been restored.

A man is facing numerous charges after his car was struck by a train Saturday near Central Islip.

Officials say the train hit Jonathan Hernandez-Lima’s vehicle around 4:30 a.m. The 27-year-old was then arrested and hospitalized.

Several delays were reported following the incident. However, the MTA says all service has since been restored.

The charges against Hernandez-Lima include DWI, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, leaving the scene with injury and leaving the scene of property damage.
