Students in Plainedge School District won't be dealing with a contingency budget this year.
The budget, which passed by 62 percent, will increase spending by 10.5 percent. That will hopefully be enough to take the district off of austerity and reinstate many of the programs that were cut when the budget was voted down two times last year.
Many voters felt they had no other choice but to approve the budget. They say they wouldn?t want to see parents and students again having to raise thousands to fund athletic programs.
