Reports say that five off-duty NYPD officers may have been part of the incident last weekend involving a motorcycle group that attacked an SUV driver.
ABC News says at least two detectives witnessed the attack on driver Alexian Lien and did not intervene.
Reginald Chance, the suspect police say smashed the driver's window with his helmet, turned himself into police custody Friday evening. Robert Sims, accused of opening the SUV's door during the chase, is also in custody.
The attorney for the motorcyclist who was seriously injured during the confrontation says Edwin Mieses Jr. was trying to calm the situation down when Lien ran him over.
"Edwin wished them no harm," said attorney Gloria Allred.
Mieses may now be paralyzed.
