Islanders agree to 3-year deal with star forward Mathew Barzal
The Islanders have agreed to a deal with star forward Mathew Barzal.
TSN's Darren Dreger reports that Barzal's deal is for $4 million in the first year, $7 million the next year and $10 million in the third year of the deal. Barzal had been a restricted free agent.
"To be back for another three years, for sure is super exciting for me and my family and my close ones around me," Barzal said. "They know I love it here, so just to get this deal finally done ... they knew I was anxious to get it done. You know, more so because I just wanted to get back with the boys and get back on the ice and make sure I was ready for the start of the season."
"He's one of those guys that can really change the game on a dime," Islanders captain Anders Lee said of Barzal.
