A sentencing extension has been granted for the grandson of former mob boss John Gotti.

As News 12 has reported, Carmine Agnello admitted to COVID-19 relief fraud.

A federal judge granted an emergency request on Thursday to delay Agnello’s sentencing scheduled for Friday so he can donate his kidney to his mother.

According to court documents, the original request from defense attorney Steven Metcalf had asked the judge to forgo jail time entirely.

U.S. District Judge Nusrat Choudhury instead postponed the court proceeding to “sometime between April 14-17, 2026 or April 20-22, 2026.”

The 39-year-old Smithtown man is facing three years in prison for lying on loan applications totaling nearly $1,000,000.

He could also be required to pay back the money.
