A report of a gun led to a lockdown at Hauppauge Middle School in Suffolk County on Thursday morning.
Suffolk police say they were on campus when the district received a call reporting a gun.
The school went into lockdown while police conducted an investigation.
The building on Townline Road was searched, and no weapons were found.
Officials tell News 12 the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute between a parent and child.
“There was a police presence, and at the end of the day it’s alarming. It’s mind-blowing, the situation,” one concerned parent said.
The school reopened by the afternoon.
