A new report released Friday details what Child Protection Service did and did not do to protect three children from being murdered by their mother. The preliminary report released Friday says there weren?t grounds to remove the children in previous investigations, but also says the case workers did not follow through.Because of the report, Nassau County fired one case worker and demoted two others who they say failed to make contact with Leatrice Brewer the weekend before she allegedly drowned her three children in their New Cassel apartment in February 2008.?It?s not enough to demote [and] it?s not enough to blame the little guy,? says attorney Sanford Pirotim, who is suing on behalf of the children. ?For the three dead children it?s too little, too late.?One of the case workers has already pleaded the 5th Amendment, limiting the amount of information available. The children?s attorney says the case workers should be the subject of a criminal investigation.
