In a year that has seen one toy recall after another, the New York Public Interest Research Group has released its 22nd annual toy safety report to alert parents on what to avoid this holiday season.
NYPIRG reports that there are still many dangerous toys lining the shelves of stores across the country. Many of the toys mentioned in the report have choking hazards for small children.
NYPIRG also points to a Curious George toy that contains five times the legal limit of lead paint. Other toy hazards found this year included toys containing other toxic chemicals, excessively loud toys and strangulation hazards.
The report cautions parents to look carefully at packaging and read all instructions that come with toys.
