Bruce Blakeman, the Republican candidate for Nassau County executive race, says he will not enforce a vaccine mandate for police and other county workers.
Blakeman claimed victory over County Executive Laura Curran earlier this week. Newsday reports that Blakeman has said in part:
"I'm vaccinated. That's a choice I made. I am not for mandatory vaccinations of county employees. I think it's a mistake. I think basically people have to make their own health care choices."
Curran has still not conceded, although Blakeman continues to make plans for the transition of power.
Absentee ballots had to be postmarked no later than Election Day and can continue to arrive by mail to the county until Nov. 9th.
