Rep. Mike Lawler has made a decision about his run for New York governor after many months of speculation.
Lawler currently serves in New York's 17th Congressional District that includes Rockland and Putnam counties, as well as most of Westchester County and some of Dutchess County.
The Republican has also been a member of the New York State Assembly.
Senior Reporter Tara Rosenblum is reporting that Lawler will announce his decision publicly on Wednesday in interviews with News 12 and a national network.
Fellow Republicans Rep. Elise Stefanik and Nassau County Bruce Blakeman have also been discussed as possible contenders for New York governor.
Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul has already announced that she is running for a second term as governor.
