Congressman Peter King (R-Seaford) was able to hold on to his 3rd Congressional District seat despite a valiant effort by his challenger.
King got 56 percent of the vote after a hard-fought race against Democrat Dave Mejias. King promised to fight illegal immigration, stand up for homeland security and be tough on terrorism.
But despite King's re-election, he could lose his position as chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee now that Democrats are in control of the House.
