An intelligence document is raising the question on Long Island and around the world whether the government?s most wanted man, Osama bin Laden, is dead.
A leaked French report claims bin Laden died last month in Pakistan from a water-borne illness. House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford) is doubtful. King says while bin Laden may be sick, he believes Al-Qaida would not hide his death because it would turn bin Laden into a martyr. However, King cautions that if and when the terrorist leader dies the violence in Iraq and other countries will likely continue.
The French government has refused to confirm material in the leaked document. Other published reports suggest bin Laden is suffering from typhoid.
