The life of Mount Vernon native and popular meteorologist Elise Finch was celebrated Tuesday.
Dozens filled the pews of Macedonia Baptist Church to honor Finch. She died last Sunday at the age of 51.
Finch had recently moved back to Mount Vernon before her sudden death. A cause of death has not been revealed.
The city’s mayor was among those on hand to speak in her honor.
"This church is packed today, and we've had so many incredible things said ... but what we have to do that will honor Elise more than our attendance and any text and any social media post that you could do, is make sure that we continue to surround this family," says Mayor Shawn Patterson-Howard.
Finch is survived by her daughter and husband.
