A great horned owl chick is back where it belongs after a tumble at the Bethpage State Park golf course.
New York State Parks shared on Facebook that the owlet fell out of its nest high above a dog park.
A rescuer from Sweetbriar Nature Center stepped in to check on the chick and gave it a clean bill of health for a return to the wild.
The rescuer built a wooden box and installed it onto a tree under an active owl nest on the Bethpage Blue Course.
Park officials are hopeful the attentive owl parents will feed and nurture the new addition as one of their own.
“Bethpage has a successful owl population and habitat, plus a dedicated staff, to help this little one,” park officials said.
