A Nassau County man is being accused of setting an SUV on fire late Thursday afternoon.

Nassau police responded to a 911 call for a vehicle fire around 5 p.m. and found a 2011 Honda Pilot fully engulfed in flames.

The incident happened in the parking lot of Ideal Food Basket on Prospect Avenue in Westbury.

The Westbury Fire Department arrived on the scene to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported.

After an extensive investigation, detectives determined that Oma Puzie, 52, of Hempstead, used an accelerant to set the fire and then fled scene.

Nassau’s Arson Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshal located the man nearby and arrested him.

Puzie will be charged with arson when he is arraigned on Friday.

Police have not released a motive at this time.
