The remains of an Air Force captain killed in Vietnam have been returned to Long Island, 41 years after he died.
The body of Capt. Robert Edgar was escorted along Main Street in Farmingdale Wednesday. Edgar was 24 when his plane was shot down over Laos in 1968.
Edgar received a proper homecoming when his flag-draped coffin landed at JFK. He will be laid to rest Thursday at Long Island National Cemetery. His only known relative is a sister who lives in Bethpage.
Air Force Capt. Vondray Sanford says the U.S. continues to look for soldiers whose remains were never found.
