Racial tension at Patchogue-Medford High School has forced the principal to initiate a lock-in. Once students enter school in the morning, they will not be able to leave for the rest of the day. The lock-in comes after two racially motivated fights broke out last week, followed by rumors of weapons being brought to school. Principal Manuel Sanzone says the gun rumors were not factual, but decided to take precautions. Hate and tolerance exercises will also be held in certain classes and additional security will be on hand. The lock-in will remain in effect until December 22. A meeting will be held Monday night to brief parents on the issues.
