New York's seventh-largest city will have a new mayor for the first time in nearly two decades.
New Rochelle Councilwoman Yadira Ramos-Herbert was the big winner Tuesday night in New Rochelle, enjoying a victory over her Republican opponent, Louis Trangucci.
Ramos-Herbert celebrated with her friends, family and supporters at the Little Mexican Cafe on Main Street and outlined her priorities during an emotional speech.
Ramos-Herbert will assume her new role in January.
She is taking over for Mayor Noam Bramson, who held the job since 2006.
