A Hempstead woman was convicted of second-degree manslaughter charges for driving drunk and killing an NYPD officer from East Northport, according to the Queens district attorney.
A jury found Jessica Beauvais guilty Tuesday after deliberating for only a few hours. Beauvais was also found guilty of leaving the scene of an accident.
Prosecutors say she was drunk, high and speeding when she struck Officer Anastasios Tsakos, who was investigating a crash on the Long Island Expressway in Queens, in April 2021.
Beauvais also had a suspended license, according to prosecutors.
She now faces up to 20 years in prison.
