Preparations are underway for the annual pride weekend in Long Beach.
“Pride on the Beach” is a three-day event that stretches all the way from Long Beach to Lido Beach.
It's the second year in a row that Long Beach has taken the event on. Residents, such as Gail and Jim Brown, say it's a great step in the right direction.
“It's recognizing a diversity of people. And that's a good thing because there are a lot of different people that make up this world,” said Gail.
“Long Beach is really standing up for diversity by hosting it,” said Jim.
The weekend will include a parade, a 5K, a carnival and other events.
On Thursday, officials and residents helped raise a pride flag at Hempstead Town Hall.
