(AP) President Barack Obama says the climate is changing faster than efforts to address global warming.
Obama is speaking at a United Nations summit on climate change. He says the U.S. will do its part, but says no nation gets a free pass.
Obama says alarm bells keep ringing and citizens keep marching, and now it's time for the world to answer the call.
He says the U.S. will meet its goal to cut carbon pollution 17 percent by 2020, compared to 2005 levels.
Obama says the world can't condemn its children to a world beyond their capacity to repair. He's announcing modest new U.S. commitments to address climate change overseas. The summit aims to galvanize support for a global climate treaty to be finalized next year.
