Long Beach helped city residents prepare ahead of heavy rains expected from the remnants of Hurricane Ida on Wednesday.
A sandbag-filling station was open until dusk Tuesday in the lot at Broadway and Laurelton.
The city supplied five unfilled bags per household, while supplies lasted.
Officials asked residents to bring their own shovel if possible.
PSEG Long Island is also preparing for Ida's remnants.
The utility company said the potential for heavy downpours and gusty winds could take down trees and powerlines.
The utility says crews are performing system checks and prepping for any potential outages.
PSEG Long Island said it has employees and contractors ready to respond to outages.
Any resident who experiences an outage can call the utility's outage hotline at 800-490-0075.
Those who are pre-registered can also text the word "out" to PSEGLI.
