Power & Politics Full Show: New York’s redistricting nightmare

So what exactly happened? First, the bipartisan committee established by voters in 2014 failed to come to an agreement on the maps. So, the Democrat-controlled state legislature created and approved the new ones. Republicans promptly filed a lawsuit claiming the process was unconstitutional and gerrymandered in favor of Democrats.
After moving through the courts, the state Court of Appeals ultimately declared the congressional and state Senate maps void.
