Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman says he's closing the gap against Kathy Hochul in the race for New York state governor. Blakeman spoke with News 12's Kevin Vesey about one of the many big differences between the two candidates - their opinion on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Vesey recently rode a Long Island Rail Road train with Blakeman, who said he will work to end congestion pricing.

Senate Republicans are urging Gov. Kathy Hochul to work with the legislature to pass an elections reform package to ensure only eligible citizens are registered to vote.

A new law that gives some terminally ill adults a medical option to end their lives is now officially in effect in New York State. The Medical Aid in Dying Act allows those with less than 6 months to live to request life-ending medication. Patients must be mentally capable of consenting and the terminal prognosis must be verified by two physicians.
