The state attorney general leads the Department of Law, serving as both the people's lawyer and the state's chief legal officer. And come November, that contest will be on New Yorkers' ballot.
Republican Saritha Komatireddy will challenge New York's incumbent Democrat Letitia James.
Komatireddy is a former prosecutor in New York's Eastern District, with over a decade leading cases that involved international terrorism, cybercrime and drug trafficking.
She focused on prosecuting leaders in Al-Qaeda, ISIS and the Mexican drug cartels.
She also served as chief of staff of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The Long Island Association is celebrating a century of advocating for local businesses. It's the region's leading nonprofit business organization and amplifies the voices of Long Island business communities.
It also focuses on strengthening the regional economy and championing growth for the future of Nassau and Suffolk counties.
The organization holds major annual conferences that address a range of issues that this year include members of the Long Island Congressional Delegation.
The LIA was also recently honored by Congress in Washington, D.C. ahead of its 100th anniversary gala in November.
