Former Long Island Rep. Anthony D'esposito now has a leading role in Washington. He is the inspector general of the U.S. Labor Department. It's an oversight and law enforcement role that aims to protect people through criminal investigations and audits. D'esposito is now focusing on issues like dismantling human and child trafficking networks, combatting all different kinds of fraud, specifically forgery and identity theft schemes.
The Department of Labor and its Office of Inspector General recently deployed a joint strike force to New York to combat alleged unemployment insurance fraud in some of the nation's highest-risk states. D'esposito served in Congress, representing the 4th Congressional District from 2023 to 2025. He also served more than 15 years as a detective with the NYPD and also served as a former Hempstead Town councilman.
Former Long Island Rep. Anthony D'Esposito's old district is once again the home of a hotly contested race. Hempstead Town Receiver of Taxes Jeannine Driscoll is challenging Democratic Rep. Laura Gillen. Gillen defeated the then-incumbent D'esposito two years ago.
An artificial intelligence data center won't be coming to the Town of Brookhaven any time soon. The town just approved an 18-month ban on the facilities. The moratorium was first considered back in June in response to pushback to a proposal in Yaphank. The developer of tech company Wildflower, however, told News 12 it did its research.
