Last week on pothole patrol, we showed you the state of Cedar Street in Hicksville. Now, we came back to try and get answers on when help will be on the way.
Lorraine Buchard was among the Hicksville residents who showed us just how poor the state of some roads in Hicksville are. She likened what was coming off the street to "boulders."
An Oyster Bay town spokesperson that said the roads in the Hicksville neighborhood are scheduled to be repaved later this year. But News 12 went right to the town's Highway Department for more answers.
News 12's Danielle Campbell was unable to speak with the commissioner of highways because he was on a conference call and was unavailable -- but was able to talk with a spokesperson about the dangerous potholes.
"The ones that are in question are scheduled to be done this year they will be done before the cold weather comes back," says town spokesperson Brian Devine. "Unfortunately, the previous administration did not put an emphasis on road repair, so we are doing our best to rectify that situation."
Buchard didn't feel too positive about that response, saying, "Honestly I don't believe it, Hicksville always gets neglected, always."
Marie Grebe, who lives on Ninth Street, had a similar story.
"This town has been neglected and the state of the roads are just atrocious, and they need to be fixed," she says.
