A much sought-after pothole fix came to a Ronkonkoma neighborhood right as News 12 cameras were rolling Monday.
David Ceely and other residents heard about News 12's pothole patrol and asked for help fixing up an area on Ronkonkoma Avenue that has racked up quite a tab. There was a pothole so big that drivers said, "It definitely makes you cringe" driving over it.
"When you go through three sets of tires in two years, it just doesn't make any sense," says Ceely. "It's embarrassing because I've lived here for 50 years and you want to be proud of there you live."
After several texts, pictures and videos were sent to Brookhaven highway officials showing the road's conditions, crews rolled into make the fixes.
And after some frustration, Ceely was impressed.
"Here they are ... I'm very impressed, thank you for covering this ... you guys are awesome cause I bet if you didn't do this, this wouldn't happen," says Ceely.
The Brookhaven Highway Department also say they plan on repaving that portion of Ronkonkoma Avenue in 2022.
