We are a week away from Election Day. And the presidential race is razor thin.
At this point more than 300,000 people in our state have voted early. Historically, Connecticut has voted Democratic.
But in the last presidential election Litchfield and Windham counties went red, as Connecticut voted for Joe Biden in 2020 by a 20.1-point margin
A recent poll by the Connecticut Mirror shows Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Donald Trump in Connecticut polls by 16 percentage points.
But the poll says the GOP electorate here remains loyal to Trump and shares his suspicion that votes will not be accurately and fairly counted
The Real Clear Politics average of national polls shows the race as a virtual tie.
According to the New York Times and FireThirtyEight, polls in the swing states that will decide the race, are just as close.
In Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Nevada it's dead even.
Harris is up by one point in Michigan
And Trump holds a slight lead in North Carolina, Georgia and Arizona.
And when it comes to the issues, the economy remains the number one issue on the minds of voters and according to the latest polls Trump holds a solid advantage on that issue.
Immigration also a top issue on the minds of voters and Trump polls better than Harris on that by a five-point margin.
But on health care and abortion the vice president leads by a wide margin.
