The majority of people questioned in a News 12 Long Island-Hofstra poll felt Donald Trump is not fit to be president.
Nearly 63 percent of people responded that Trump was not fit for the job, while 29 percent believed he is. Another 8 percent were undecided.
Political consultant Michael Dawidziak says Donald Trump's celebrity status has catapulted him to the front of a crowded GOP presidential field. But Dawidziak says that may not be enough to keep Trump there as Long Islanders and the nation begin to focus more on policies and experience.
"I would be shocked if he did have the deep policy knowledge that most or a lot of these other people have in this field," says Dawidziak. "He hasn't spent his life studying it or doing it."
