Police say a woman stole from several residents of a Lake Grove assisted living facility where she worked as a housekeeper.
Between May and June, police say 24-year-old Staci McNair, of Middle Island, stole thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry from eight residents of The Bristal Assisted Living at Lake Grove.
Investigators say one of the residents noticed several pieces of jewelry missing from her room, so she notified Bristal officials, who then called police.
Bristal officials did not wish to speak with News 12 on camera, but they say they are fully cooperating with the investigation, including giving authorities a printout of all the keycards that were used to get inside residents' apartments.
McNair faces several charges that include grand larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police say McNair had heroin on her when she was arrested.
The Bristal says all employees go through a rigorous criminal background check and that McNair had no prior criminal history. She has been fired.
