A 44-year-old woman was fatally stabbed on Jackson Avenue in Morrisania, police say.
Neighbors say the woman was walking in the street around 8 a.m. Monday when a livery cab driver stabbed her multiple times. A sanitation worker tells News 12 that he was heading to work when he saw a man go after the woman with a knife. He says he tried yelling at the suspect to stop, but it didn't work.
Police say the woman was rushed to Lincoln Hospital and pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released.
Authorities now say they believe that the suspect is the woman's husband, but there is no word on a motive.
Police ask anyone with information on the case to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
