A rash of car break-ins around West Islip has the community on edge.
Suffolk police say there were 20 reported vehicle breaks-ins and thefts in West Islip over the last month.
Some residents admitted to News 12 that they have left their cars unlocked overnight and found their personal items stolen the next day.
Police say they have increased the number of patrols in the areas. Additional marked and unmarked cars will be positioned during night hours.
