Police have identified the Uber driver who died in a fatal collision in Lynbrook as 70-year-old Reginald Scott, of Baldwin.
The crash happened on Sunrise Highway at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue at around 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Three vehicles were involved in the crash.
According to detectives, Scott was driving a Nissan Sentra westbound on Sunrise Highway as an Uber driver, with a 26-year-old male passenger. They say he struck an Audi driven by a 37-year-old man, who was also traveling westbound. The Audi then collided with a party bus driven by a 38-year-old man.
The driver of the Audi and the Uber passenger are both in critical condition.
One of Scott’s sisters who was too distraught to speak on camera told News 12 that she actually passed the accident, not knowing that her brother was involved.
One of Scott’s neighbors said she was very upset to hear the tragic news.
“It’s very sad. The grandfather, I think he walks his grandson to school every day, so that’s really unfortunate. It’s really sad, especially I have a young daughter, so I can’t imagine," said the neighbor.
The party bus driver refused medical attention at the crash scene.
The cause of the crash is not known at this time.
