Police say an attempted robber injured two officers at a gas station in Patchogue on Thursday.
Justin Delgado, 34, of Huntington is charged with assault, attempted robbery, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.
Kyle Jones, the owner of Ultimate Gas Station/Pit Stop Convenience on West Main Street, tells us the suspect threatened his employee with a knife and was taking things off the shelves, causing a mess.
Surveillance video he shared with News 12 shows a Suffolk police officer trying to stop Delgado from causing damage to the store.
Police say when they arrived on the scene Delgado was seen with a knife. When police tried to arrest him, they say the would-be thief tried to fight.
The store owner says his employee was not hurt.
"He's okay. He was smart actually. He stayed away, called 911," Jones said, "They came here and did whatever they did."
The extent of the officer's injuries is not yet clear.
