A Patchogue man has been arrested for allegedly trying to bring a bag full of weapons on a plane yesterday at JFK Airport.

Police say a TSA worker discovered the stash as Timothy Schiavo Jr., 29, was going through a security screening. Inside the bag was a trench knife with metal knuckles, several scissors, lighters and matches.

Josephine Prybyzerski, Schiavo's mother, says her son was a knife collector and was heading to North Carolina to live with his sister.

She says Schiavo has a developmental disability and never meant any harm.

Schiavo was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
