A small plane crashed in Shelter Island Thursday near Klenawicus Airstrip, police say.
They say the pilot misjudged the length of the runway and wind conditions.
The 78-year-old pilot was unable to stop the plane on the airstrip.
The front wheel came off and the plane crashed nose-first in the grass.
Police say nobody was injured.
