Police in Nassau say the little girl who was seen wandering without shoes in the Roosevelt area has been located unharmed in Queens.
The Southern State Parkway was closed near Exit 21 around 10 p.m. Tuesday as police searched for the 8-year-old child. Police say an investigation indicated she walked on a bridge over the parkway and into a wooded area along the parkway.
Before heading to the parkway, police say the girl was spotted alone walking through the parking lot of a BP gas station on Nassau Road in Roosevelt.
Police say a concerned citizen tried to talk to the girl but was unsuccessful before calling authorities.
Surveillance pictures and video police obtained of the girl showed her wearing pink pajama pants, a white and blue horizontal striped shirt, large hoop earrings and no shoes. They say these photos helped them locate the residence she was found at in Queens.
Nassau police say they had upward of 100 officers working to locate her before she was found. Police said more information could not be immediately provided due to the nature of the investigation, but that the investigation will continue.
