DVDs might not be flying off the shelves these days, but that didn’t stop a man from pulling out a gun in broad daylight to get some, according to police.
The robbery happened Nov. 6 around 2:20 p.m. on Mermaid Avenue near West 29th Street.
Police say the suspect grabbed DVDs from a 39-year-old vendor. When the vendor confronted him, the man pulled out a gun and fired. No one was hurt.
Other vendors on the block say they’ve also been robbed in recent weeks. A small flower shop on the next block says someone recently stole two security cameras and a couple of light bulbs from outside the store.
Police are asking anyone with information about the DVD theft to contact Crime Stoppers. Calls are anonymous.
