Police have labeled the death of a woman in Melville a homicide, but say they have no motive or suspect.
Officials say a male relative of 59-year-old Diane Edwards called 911 at around 4 p.m. Wednesday. According to officials, the relative said he found Edwards unconscious in the bedroom of her West Hills Road home. Edwards was taken to Huntington Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police say Edwards, who lived alone, was bleeding from her head. Police say she was murdered in what could be some sort of choke hold.
Authorities blocked off West Hills Road since Wednesday and cordoned off another house on Covington Street, a block away. Neighbors say Edwards? daughter and son-in-law live in the Covington Street house, but police would not confirm that.
Police ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
