After weeks of courtroom proceedings, police released a taped and written confession Friday allegedly made by the Hauppauge teen accused of killing his stepfather with a samurai sword.
On an off day for the trial of Zachary Gibian, police made public a six-page, handwritten document they say Gibian authored mere hours after nearly decapitating Scott Nager in February of 2005. Prosecutors claim this piece of evidence is overwhelming, especially when companioned by the sketches Gibian drew depicting both strikes of the sword.
In the alleged confession, prosecutors say Gibian described a verbally abusive relationship with Nager. According to his statement, Gibian's mother told him she had been fighting with Nager throughout the evening. The statement claims he that the fighting sparked the decision to end his stepfather's life.
