Police say an adult male pedestrian was struck by a hit-and-run driver off Sunrise Highway in Sayville Thursday night.
The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on the eastbound Sunrise Highway near exit 50 for Lincoln Avenue.
The road was shut down for hours, but all lanes reopened at 3 a.m.
The person was seriously injured.
Police are searching for the driver.
