Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a person in a trailer behind a Central Islip home.
Police received the 911 call Thursday at around 12:50 p.m. to respond to the area near Second Avenue.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.
Kenny Hahn says in the over 37 years he's lived on Second Avenue, scenes like the one Thursday night are rare. He says he knew something was up when his dogs started barking like crazy Thursday afternoon.
"I looked out the window and I saw police tape and I walked outside and asked the officer what was going on,” he said. "What he said was somebody died down the block."
Hahn says his block is normally pretty quiet.
“There's not a lot going on. In the summertime, there's a few big parties, but for the most part, you never have too much trouble over here,” he said.
